There are so many ways to raise money for charity – the golden wedding that gave
On 10 June 2023, Jan and Keith Hichisson celebrated their golden wedding anniversary. They kindly decided that instead of any gifts, they would prefer donations to go to Empowering Kids in Kenya.
It’s inspiring the ideas that people come up with to help some of the most underprivileged children in Kenya.
Keith and Jan owned a large garden centre until recently and have sponsored children at the school for several years. They have provided donations of clothing and support all of our fundraising events and projects. Their support over the years is very much appreciated. Keith is joining me in September 2023 when I go over to Kenya. He will learn first hand what the school is all about and meet our amazing kids and staff.
This anniversary fundraiser was an amazing and unexpected boost to our finances. Thank you both. It was super kind and thoughtful and their guests thought it was a great idea. Jan and Keith knew that at their time of life they didn’t need any more “stuff”, and sometimes it’s hard for guests to know what to buy. So they came up with this wonderful way to help a charity that is dear to their hearts.
The most simple events can turn into successful fundraisers, and you don’t have to raise a fortune, every donation makes a significant difference.
What do you have coming up that could raise funds for the poorest children in one of the poorest suburbs of Mombasa? We can set up a Just Giving page for you to send out the link to your friends and family or you could set up a Birthday Fundraiser on Facebook.
And once again, our heartfelt thanks to Jan and Keith and all their family and friends who donated.
