In March 2022 the Rotary Club of Mombasa Downtown organised a one-day medical camp held in the new school building and on the playground under canopies. This camp provided free medical help in the form of general out-patient and specialist consultations to the entire community.
Up to 1,000 adults and children were seen by doctors, nurses, pharmacists, a nutritionist and medical students, who all provided their services completely free of charge. Covid and polio vaccinations were also available during this camp. Our aim is to repeat this initiative annually and use the school for other activities to help the local community and increase our engagement with parents and their extended families.
Government regulations now mean we must have a playground and the rented land we used immediately behind the school was no longer available for rent. The cost to buy the land was £32,000. This seems high but it’s just the going rate and we had no other alternatives.

Shereen Ajumal, a Rotarian with the Rotary Club of Sleaford, met up with her four sponsored children recently via Zoom. During that meeting, one of them mentioned that she liked swimming. Interesting! It turns out that none of the children in the school have ever been to a swimming pool.
